Match reportCherrybrook v AFC – U16 GirlsWhat a team. What a performance. With only 10 fit players going into the match, we knew this was going to be a huge challenge against a full Cherrybrook side. To make it tougher, two of our 10 were carrying injuries and one was feeling under the weather. From kick-off, the girls worked tirelessly, competing for first and second balls. Cherrybrook eventually broke the deadlock with a looping effort, and we went into the break 1–0 down.At half-time, we asked the girls to get the ball down and play the football they’d shown in the final 10 minutes of the first half—and they took that on board brilliantly. The response was outstanding. We dominated large spells of the game and played some terrific football.A couple of good chances went begging, and it looked like it might be one of those days—but the girls never gave up. The breakthrough came when Mia delivered a brilliant corner and Martha rose highest to head home. 1–1.The girls weren’t satisfied with a draw and pushed for a winner—and what a winner it was. The ball fell to Lily on the edge of the box, and she fired home with her weaker foot to make it 2–1 AFC.From there, the girls managed the game superbly to see it out.Final Score: Cherrybrook 1–2 AFCParents’ Player of the Match:🏆 Amy – commanding at the back and getting forward at every opportunity.Coaches’ Player of the Match:🏆 The whole team – every single player did us proud today. An incredible effort from an incredible group of girls 💙💪 ... *Radcliffe Juniors vs AFC U12 Yellows*A cold, overcast morning provided the backdrop as AFC Bolton Yellows U12 were put through a stern examination by a strong Radcliffe Juniors side who eventually emerged deserved winners.Radcliffe set the tone early, pressing high and asking questions from the opening exchanges. AFC Bolton found themselves penned back in the early stages and it was no real surprise when that pressure told, Radcliffe capitalising to take an early lead and reward their bright start. To their credit, AFC Bolton responded well and began to show flashes of what they are capable of on the counter. A superb break down the right saw Rose surge forward before delivering an inviting cross that picked out Memphis, only for a sharp save to deny what would have been an instant equaliser. That moment lifted AFC Bolton and they began to grow into the contest.Willow was at the heart of much of AFC Bolton’s attacking play, showing quick feet and intelligence in possession. One neat turn and perfectly weighted pass released Memphis again, though Radcliffe defenders crowded her out before a shot could be unleashed. Rose then showed her battling qualities to win the ball and drive forward, again finding Memphis, whose effort was once more saved.Chances continued to come. Grace went close with a strike that drifted just wide as AFC Bolton enjoyed their best spell of the half. The clearest opening arrived when Willow, once again impressing, drove down the wing and delivered a dangerous cross. Memphis was fouled in the box as she attempted to finish, but the resulting penalty agonisingly went unconverted. That proved a pivotal moment. Radcliffe regrouped and struck again to make it 2-0, before further AFC Bolton chances went begging. A strong run from Lyla down the left ended with a cross that found Willow, but her effort was blocked, while another powerful run from Willow shortly after again failed to produce the finish her play deserved.Just before the interval, Radcliffe extended their advantage, a cross to the back post being met with a composed finish to make it 3-0 at half-time.The second half followed a similar pattern. A long-range effort from Radcliffe increased the deficit to four, and while AFC Bolton continued to battle, clear chances were harder to come by.In truth, it was a tough morning for AFC Bolton Yellows, a bad day at the office against an organised and clinical opponent. There were positives in individual moments, and the focus now turns to training ground work and preparing to go again in the next game.Parent's Player - Rose: great battling, strong on the ball, fantastic pace and creating chances with her crosses into the box. Coach's Player - Ev: confident clearances, did exactly what the coach asked of her. Thanks to our sponsors Locksafe Windows and Jacki’s Beauty and our charity partners Andy’s Man Club and Girls in Sport. ... FC Bolton U10 Girls vs Westbury Sports Club PhoenixWhat a performance from the AFC girls this morning. Coming up against a very strong and physical Westbury side, the girls stepped up brilliantly and matched that physicality from the outset. As the game settled, confidence began to grow, and that’s when the girls were really able to show their footballing quality.Over the last few match reports, I’ve often highlighted Heidi’s performances in goal, and this week was no different. She did everything perfectly, although she had less to do today thanks to an outstanding defensive display. Niamh and Libby started at the back, alongside Betsy, who made her debut for AFC. All three were solid against a very physical attack. In the second half, Libby moved into central midfield and did a great job winning the ball and distributing it effectively. In midfield, Ava, Emily and Eliza started, and their fitness really showed. With only two substitutes available, the girls played longer minutes and worked tirelessly throughout. There were some excellent challenges to regain possession, combined with great pass-and-move play. As confidence grew, their creativity became phenomenal.Up front, Maddie led the line and showed excellent footwork, holding the ball up well and bringing the midfield into play. In the second half she dropped into midfield, once again showing her adaptability and willingness to play wherever the team needed her.And then there was Harleigh — what a performance. After scoring her first goal, her confidence soared. Her running, pressing of defenders, ball-winning in midfield and clinical finishing were outstanding throughout the game.AFC started on the front foot, but the Westbury goalkeeper was in top form early on. Westbury did manage to catch us on the break and scored the opening goal, but the girls’ heads never dropped. Eliza’s relentless running and skill on the ball kept the Westbury defence under constant pressure. The equaliser came from a strong challenge by Libby, winning the ball and playing a beautiful pass into Eliza’s feet. After some clever footwork, Eliza calmly slotted the ball into the net.Our second goal followed from excellent pressing by the midfield and Harleigh. Harleigh reacted quickly, adjusting her feet to poke the ball past the Westbury goalkeeper. The second half began with AFC full of confidence. The challenges were strong, the passing was fluid, and the girls controlled the game. Ava showed great determination, driving into the box, beating defenders and even the goalkeeper, but the ball just ran away from her. However, Emily arrived perfectly at the back post to tap the ball home and score her first goal for AFC.After creating several more chances, the final goal came from Harleigh, who finished superbly into the bottom corner. A well-deserved goal after an incredible work rate all game. The girls then managed the game excellently to see out the victory, with Libby stepping into midfield and acting as a wall in front of the defence.Once again, this was a fantastic team performance that really showcased the girls’ ability. Well done to everyone involved.Player AwardsParents’ Player of the Match: HarleighA performance full of determination. Once Harleigh scored her first goal, her confidence grew, and she was composed and clinical with both her passing and finishing. Fantastic effort.Coaches’ Player of the Match: BetsyAn excellent debut performance. Great communication with her new teammates, brilliant passing, and exceptional tackling. A great addition to the squad — well done.As always, a huge thank-you to our sponsors, Autotrader and Porky’s Café, for their continued support. ... See MoreSee Less

Team: Leo, Noah ⭐️, Theo, Nico ⭐️, Lennon, Joseph and Danny. The boys once again had a game against Strikerz Avengers this morning and knew they would be in for a difficult game as results of past games can go in the favour of either team.Leo has taken on board the coaches comments and has tried extremely hard to adapt to the teams style of play. This was on show today through his composure with the ball to play out from the back.Noah was awarded the coaches player of the week for his overall performance. He showed great awareness to take on instructions of when to stand up his man and when to engage them.Theo was solid at the back and made a number of ball winning challenges when the opposition were in dangerous positions. On the ball he created some chances by finding his teammates in attacking positions.Nico was awarded the parent’s player of the week for his goal scoring efforts. He showed great confidence on the ball to dribble past opponents and when given the opportunity he finished his chances.Lennon worked his socks off for the team winning the ball back high up the pitch and also covering his teammates with a number of interceptions in and around his own penalty area. On the ball he set up chances with some great passing and scored.Joseph was calm and composed in possession showing his game awareness to rebuild attacks and retain possession. He was on the scoresheet again and linked up play brilliantly. There was a great long range strike which was unlucky not to go in.Danny showed his passion today by standing up to some robust challenges and never backing down from a tackle. His ability to beat a man was on show and he always had his head up to look for a passing line. The match today was a great challenge for the boys. Keep it up boys and continue the ongoing improvement through experience of dealing with different styles of play. ... See MoreSee Less

⚽️ U9 girls ⚽️ sponsored by TrustPoint Mortgage And Protection Services, Seddon & Zb Cleaning ServicesToday we had an early start at a windy Ladybridge. No subs, no problem for this group of brilliant girls as we had quality right through to the final whistle. We took an early lead and led by a couple of goals, but the lads fought back and it was a very close scoreline at half time. We had a 10 minute spell where we were put under the cosh and Maddison pulled off a few saves to keep the momentum with us. We regrouped and picked the energy up in the second half and put the lads to the sword. These girls are ruthless when they build up a head of steam and our quality came through in abundance. As coaches, we look at slightly different things sometimes and one of the most pleasing things for me today was when the ball went out for a goal kick and every single player sprinted back into position, ready to go again 💪🏼 little things that are worth a lot. Sophie put a real shift in on the right wing in the first half before moving into defence in the second, where she was solid and looked to play out from the back. Olivia put in some great tackles when in defence, reading the game well, before being pushed forwards into centre mid where she scored a great goal from the edge of the box. Florence battled well in the first half before moving over to the wing in the second half where she held her position well to get herself space. She was rewarded with a goal from range, finding the bottom corner from 10 yards outside the box. Captain Barla outstanding once again up front. She’s got that balance perfectly nailed down of when she needs to drive at goal herself or when to look to bring a team mate into play. No fewer than seven goals was her reward for a top quality display. 🏆 Parents Player of the match went to Maddison. With the oppositions pressure coming in waves today, she had to keep her concentration during the quiet spells and be ready for when we needed her. Ready she was, with her highlight being a fantastic diving save down to her right hand side tipping the ball out for a corner. With Matilda being sidelined for a number of weeks with a broken ankle, we’ve temporarily added her to the coaching staff. 🏆 Coach Matilda’s Girl of the game went to Orlaith. She had bags of energy up and down the left wing today, which is a new position for her, but you would think she’s played there for years. Orlaith is looking super confident at the minute and brought real calm and composure to the team. Bringing the ball under control, she would look to link up with her team mates to create chances or keep possession. She was rewarded with a goal having busted a gut to get in the box and got on the end of a cross to hammer the ball home. On to the next 💪🏼 ... See MoreSee Less
