AFC Bolton coaches wanted!!AFC Bolton are looking for a manager and assistant to take over our under 7 boys team.Training is Wednesday evening 6-7 at Ladybridge high school and matches take place every Saturday morning in the BBDFL. AFC Bolton U16 Girls GreyV Fulledge U16 ColtsLancashire County Cup - Round of 32Proudly Sponsored by FW Style, Beaumont Hospital, Starling & AutotraderThe 1st Round draw saw us paired with fellow Bolton & Bury Section A side, Fulledge Colts. The Greys went into the game at full strength, with the exception of Matilda and Niamh, while Eliza made her season debut.In truth, this was a tough and physical game from the first minute, and the intensity never really changed throughout. We struggled to find any real rhythm at times, but that certainly wasn’t through a lack of effort, with the girls giving everything as they looked to take control of the game.On 16 minutes, Fulledge took the lead with a well-taken goal.However, just three minutes later, we were level. Eliza delivered a beautifully struck corner which was heading directly into the goal when the ball struck the hand of a Fulledge defender. The referee pointed to the spot and, as always, Yvie stepped up to place the penalty into the back of the net.The remainder of the first half was a real battle, and it was clear there were areas we needed to address when we got the girls in at half time.The second half followed a similar pattern. We continued with a high line but made an adjustment in midfield, with Jess man-marking their central midfielder to nullify the through balls into their strikers. It worked well and helped to limit one of Fulledge’s main threats.On 56 minutes, we thought we had taken the lead. Joy did brilliantly to hold off her marker before putting the ball across the face of goal for Mimi to tap home. Unfortunately, the referee pulled the play back for a foul against Joy. Even the Fulledge coaching staff seemed unsure of the decision, but we had to move on.As the final minutes ticked away, we made our final substitutions with one eye on the possibility of penalties, ensuring we had the girls who wanted to take penalties on the pitch if the game went to a shootout.At the final whistle, seven girls stepped forward and put their names down to take a penalty.Apple produced a save from Fulledge’s second penalty, giving us the advantage we needed.The quality and composure of our penalty takers were excellent, with every one finding the back of the net. We came through 5-4 to make the last 16 of the cup where all the super league teams awaitIt’s clear that we haven’t had a huge amount of pre-season and we’re still working to find the right formation and combinations to get the best out of the girls. We also know we need to improve when facing the more physical sides.But, as always with this group, the willingness to improve is there. They give everything, they listen, they work hard and they want to get better and that will come.Player of the Match: Maisie - Her work rate, drive, and clear vocal instructions were just what we needed in a game like this#afcbolton
⚽ Match Report | AFC Bolton U12 Girls ⚽Vs Collyhurst, Away, 10:30 KO.Sometimes football gives you a reminder that a game can change very quickly when belief, intensity and a little bit of bravery arrive together.That was certainly the case for AFC today, as the girls travelled away to face a strong Collyhurst Youth FC side and produced what can only be described as a tale of two very different halves.The first half was a tough one.Collyhurst had two particularly dangerous attacking players who punished AFC whenever opportunities presented themselves. Their finishing was excellent, including two superb efforts from distance that left Sia with very little chance, while two more quality finishes found the corners beyond her reach, including one that found the inside of the post.AFC found themselves four goals behind at the interval, but the scoreline didn't really tell the whole story. The girls defended well in spells, but Collyhurst were simply more clinical when their chances arrived.Ayva was once again showing composure in those last-ditch challenges, but doing so with the control and intelligence we've come to expect from her. Beside her, Isla B was immense. Our captain produced two huge moments, first clearing a certain goal off the post before somehow getting back to snatch the ball away from an onrushing attacker when another goal looked inevitable.At the other end, Holly was causing problems from the very beginning. Her pace down the right repeatedly took her beyond her marker and she could easily have had two or three goals inside the opening ten minutes. The chances weren't quite falling for her, but the threat was obvious.At half time, though, came the challenge from the coaches. The message to the girls wasn't simply to keep trying. They needed to change.Move the ball better. Be more physical when required, or be more intelligent when the situation called for it. Most importantly, they needed to believe they could actually change the game. Because no amount of encouragement from the sidelines can create that belief if the players themselves don't have it.And then they went out and did exactly that.The second half was a complete transformation.AFC came out with far greater intensity, moving the ball quicker, pressing higher and making much better decisions under pressure. The girls started finding little pockets of space and, rather than trying to force their way through individually, began playing the football we'd been asking for.The opening goal was a perfect example.Evie laid the ball back into a ridiculously tight area of the box for Monica, who somehow found the inch-perfect pass between the defenders and into Holly's path. Holly did the rest.It was intricate, composed and required all three players to see the same picture in a split second. Exactly the sort of football we know these girls are capable of producing.Holly then struck again as AFC continued to turn the screw.Collyhurst managed to pull one back from a direct corner, with a deflection taking the ball in with a hefty slice of luck, but that did little to change the momentum.From there, the second half belonged to AFC.The girls pressed aggressively, moved the ball with confidence and began creating chances almost constantly. Isla Mc was absolutely electric, taking players on with incredible confidence and seemingly finding a way through every time. The nutmegs were becoming almost unfair! 😂Holly continued to stretch the other side of the pitch with her pace, while the rest of the team worked relentlessly to squeeze Collyhurst higher up the pitch.And there was another moment that showed exactly why Millie is such a valuable player for this team.For a period, Millie dropped into the middle of the defence and absolutely nailed the job. She read the danger, stayed composed and dealt with the opposition in exactly the same way we'd expect from Ayva and Isla B. She didn't just fill a position. She understood the job and did it properly, giving the team another option defensively while others were able to influence the game further forward.That versatility is a huge asset.Most impressively, the passing became confident.Triangles appeared everywhere. At the back, the girls were using short combinations to play their way out of pressure. Further forward, the same movements were creating openings at the other end.This wasn't simply a case of AFC working harder.They started playing smarter.And that is what made the second half so satisfying to watch.From being four goals behind at half time, AFC completely changed the momentum and won the second half 3-1.A remarkable contrast.⭐ The Girls performance Holly – A constant danger from the first whistle, with her pace causing problems all game and two goals rewarding an outstanding all-round attacking and defensive performance.Sia – Faced some incredibly difficult finishes and kept battling between the posts despite having very little chance with several of the opposition's best efforts.Ayva – Produced her trademark last-ditch defending again, combining fearless challenges with the control needed to keep the ball moving.Isla B – A commanding captain's performance, making two huge defensive interventions when goals looked certain and leading by example throughout.Isla Mc – A nightmare for defenders, taking players on with incredible confidence and finding ways through the Collyhurst defence time and time again.Evie – Adapted brilliantly to an unfamiliar position and became one of the catalysts for the second-half turnaround with her intelligent pressing and movement.Monica – Worked tirelessly in the middle of the action and produced a moment of real quality with the inch-perfect pass that created AFC's opening goal.Millie – Showed just how valuable her versatility is by dropping into central defence and performing the role brilliantly, giving the team composure and protection while still contributing to the attacking turnaround.Harbor – Continued to show the defensive intelligence we've seen developing, helping AFC stay composed and work their way out of pressure.Charlotte – Put in another committed shift, competing for possession and looking to make the right pass rather than simply clearing the ball away.Emily – Kept pushing forward and looking for ways to turn possession into attacking opportunities, particularly as AFC began finding more space and rhythm.Neave – Worked hard for the team and continued to offer energy and movement working more smarter.Harriet – Continued to work hard for the side as the girls battled through a difficult first half and then raised their level after the break.Sienna – Continued to give the team energy and effort throughout the game, playing her part in the collective response that transformed AFC's second-half performance.🌟 Performance Player: EvieEvie was the clearest example of the transformation we saw today.Playing in an unfamiliar position, she didn't simply survive there. She embraced the role, pressed high with real intensity and, crucially, did it intelligently. Her positioning helped AFC stay higher up the pitch and allowed the team to sustain the pressure that completely changed the second half.🏆 Player of the Match: HollyFrom the very first whistle, Holly was a constant threat.She could easily have had a hat-trick inside the opening ten minutes after repeatedly using her pace to leave her marker behind. Even though those early chances didn't go in, she never let it affect her.She kept going. Two goals followed, but it was the all-round performance that really stood out. Holly worked at both ends of the pitch, continued to stretch the opposition and remained a threat right until the final whistle.Well done, Holly. 👏And finally, a huge well done to all 14 girls.They could quite easily have allowed the first half to dictate the rest of the game. AFC Bolton Boys U11 Yellows sponsored by @ Singleton Window Cleaning Services were up against Adlington Juniors Gorillas yesterdayWhat a game! The boys were fantastic and worked so hard from start to finish.Jack - made himself big, making a number of blocks. Caught everything that came his way and his distribution, particularly his throws were great.Billy - started where he finished last season, strong tackling and vital blocks everywhere. Looked to drive forward with the ball and set the attacks up.Finley - another strong display, battling and tackling every attack from the opposition. Confidence is growing taking the ball forward too.Kayson - relentless running. Defended strongly and attacked with force, never backing down and always looking to play the ball through for others to run onto. Coaches player.Ellis - attacked with real enthusiasm, not afraid to take a player on and working together with his teammates. Ran himself ragged.Noah - another solid display in his second game. Some strong runs and tracking back to support. Another well taken goal got the ball rolling for us.Logan - played like a man possessed! Harried and tackled the opposition putting them under pressure constantly. Two goals to get his tally underway.Reuben - some brilliant touches to control the ball and fool the opposition. Always looking to play a teammate in and supporting the attack.Cooper - even with a sore ankle he worked hard, closing and pressing the opposition often forcing them into a backward pass.Bavel - worked hard throughout, working well with his teammates to cut through the opposition and create attacks. A couple of shots that on another day could have gone in.The boys showed that they could compete. A very strong performance from each and everyone of them. Hard to pick a coaches player and the fact the parents all agreed they should all have parents player shows what a great effort they all put in. Noah⚽️Logan ⚽️⚽️
