⚽️ Ladies 1st Team - Match Report ⚽️Radcliffe Women FC 3 - 2 AFC Bolton LadiesWe travelled just a couple of miles down the road to Radcliffe FC Women for our second preseason friendly. There was a lot going on for us with change in formation, trailist etc… so as always as we do over preseason we have small focuses ready for the first week in September. The game started and was a bit of a struggle for us. You could clearly see we needed we was getting to grips with the change in formation, new players learning our style of play. But we are all on board and are all focused on getting things right for September. Overall we come away knowing what we needed to work and also the positives that what we had been working on in training was paying off ⚽️ - Darcy ⚽️ - Ellie 🌟 POM - Ellie Ellie was outstanding! During preseason she is really focused on owning her position and sticking to it. It’s Ellie’s own fault sometime for being so versatile and she does get moved around a lot. But this year, she’s focused and ready to take on the 2026/27 season. She ended the game with getting her name on the scoresheet with an absolute peach of a free kick! ⚽ Match ReportAFC Bolton U14s Girls 5–7 Hindsford U14s GirlsFootball doesn’t always reward the better team, and while the result wasn’t the one we wanted, this was a thrilling game that showcased attacking football, determination and plenty of positives to take into the rest of pre-season.The girls came up against a strong Hindsford side in a game that produced 12 goals, plenty of excitement and entertainment for everyone watching. It was certainly a match for the neutrals, with both teams attacking at every opportunity. The first half wasn’t our best. We looked sluggish, were a little slow to react and never quite got into our rhythm. We were second to too many loose balls and allowed Hindsford to capitalise on mistakes. Against good opposition, those moments are punished, and we found ourselves chasing the game.A major setback came after just 15 minutes when Lola was forced off through injury. She had started the game well, organising the defence and bringing composure to the back line. Losing her disrupted our defensive shape, and she was a big miss for the remainder of the game. Everyone at the club wishes Lola a speedy recovery, and we hope to see her back on the pitch soon. The second half, however, was a completely different story. The girls came out with far more energy, belief and determination. We pressed higher up the pitch, moved the ball quicker and created chance after chance. The quality in attack was excellent, with some brilliant passing moves and positive forward play causing Hindsford problems throughout the half.Ava continued her excellent pre-season with two well-taken goals, constantly stretching the opposition with her pace and direct running. Nancy showed exactly why she’s captain by scoring twice from midfield while continuing to drive the team forward with her work rate and determination. Imogen also got herself on the scoresheet after another energetic performance down the wing.Although we eventually lost 7–5, the scoreline doesn’t tell the whole story. On another day, with a little more composure in front of goal and some tighter defending, the result could easily have gone the other way. We created enough chances to win the game and never stopped believing right until the final whistle.Pre-season is about learning, building fitness, developing partnerships and improving week by week. This game highlighted areas we need to improve defensively, but it also showed just how dangerous we can be going forward.⭐ Player HighlightsFlo (Goalkeeper)Stepped into goal and showed great bravery throughout the match. Made several important saves despite being under constant pressure and never stopped encouraging the players in front of her.LolaA real blow to lose Lola after only 15 minutes through injury. She had started confidently, winning her tackles and helping organise the defence. Her absence was noticeable, and we wish her a speedy recovery.JennyWorked tirelessly throughout the game, never giving up despite the pressure. Defended bravely and continued to battle until the final whistle.PhoebeShowed great determination and commitment, working hard both defensively and when supporting attacks. Never stopped putting in the effort for the team.NancyAn outstanding captain’s performance. Scored two excellent goals while covering every blade of grass. Led by example with her work rate, communication and desire to drive the team forward.ImogenAnother energetic display on the left-hand side. Her direct running caused problems all afternoon and she deserved her goal after constantly looking to make things happen.AvaOutstanding in attack. Two well-deserved goals and a constant threat every time she received the ball. Her pace, movement and willingness to take defenders on made life difficult for Hindsford throughout the game.ScarlettWorked tirelessly leading the line. Her movement and link-up play created space for teammates, and she was unfortunate not to add her name to the scoresheet after several dangerous attacking moments.AmeliaWorked incredibly hard for the team and showed great determination throughout. Supported both attack and defence and never stopped battling.FernAnother positive performance from Fern. Defended well, stayed composed on the ball and worked hard right until the final whistle.⭐ Coaches’ Player of the MatchAvaA superb performance from Ava, who was a constant threat from the first whistle to the last. Her pace, determination and direct running caused Hindsford problems all afternoon, and she was rewarded with two excellent goals. What impressed the coaches most was her relentless work rate. she never stopped pressing, chasing lost causes or working for the team. Every time she received the ball, she looked positive and drove at the defence with confidence. A brilliant all-round display and a thoroughly deserved Coaches’ Player of the Match.🌟 Parents’ Player of the MatchPhoebePhoebe produced a fantastic team performance and fully deserved the Parents’ Player of the Match award. She worked tirelessly for every minute, showing great determination, commitment and a real willingness to put the team first. Whether pressing defenders, making intelligent runs or helping out defensively, Phoebe never stopped working. Her attitude, energy and selfless play epitomised everything the coaches ask for, and it was great to see her efforts recognised by the parents. These two awards reflected exactly what the game was about hard work, commitment and putting the team first. 💛🖤⚽⭐ Coaches’ View“There are defeats that leave you frustrated, and there are defeats that give you confidence. This was definitely the second. The first half wasn’t us. We were slow to react, didn’t defend well enough and made life difficult for ourselves. But what impressed me most was the response after half-time. The girls came out with much more intensity, moved the ball well and showed exactly what this team is capable of.Losing Lola so early was a huge blow and affected our organisation at the back, but the girls adapted and kept fighting. We created enough chances to win the game, and with a little more composure in front of goal and better defensive decisions, the result could easily have been different.Pre-season isn’t about chasing results it’s about improving fitness, building confidence, trying different combinations and learning from every game. I’d much rather see us trying to play football, making mistakes and learning than simply kicking the ball long. There are lots of positives to take from today. The girls showed character, created some excellent attacking football and never gave up. If we keep working hard on the training ground and continue believing in ourselves, I’m confident we’ll be ready when the league season starts.Keep believing, keep learning and keep working for each other. The results will come.”💛🖤⚽ ... See MoreSee Less

⚽️ U10 Girls ⚽️ Sponsored by Seddon, TrustPoint Mortgage And Protection Services & Zb Cleaning ServicesToday the girls played a preseason friendly against a physically strong and well organised Cherrybrook team. Like the last game, only 1 goal separated the teams in what was a great match to watch. 🧤 Maddison had a great game in net making a fantastic save in the first half, clawing the ball out of the top corner. Later she was brave, running out of the box to make a 50/50 last ditch tackle. She also came out on top when facing a penalty in the second half. Olivia was brilliant in defence, and played with real confidence. She had speed when getting back to make the tackles, but also drove us forwards and became a threat. Layla was dangerous from the left hand side. She had great feet in tight situations and linked up superbly with Flo in midfield. She brought great speed and energy to the wing and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Florence was immense in the centre of midfield. She played passes at the right time and would drive into space when the opportunity arose. She opened the scoring for us with a great finish - a well controlled side foot volley from Orlaiths corner ball. We’ve moved Orlaith forwards from her usual wing position to be striker where she pressed very well. She put their defence under pressure, winning the ball when she had no rights to, and claimed an assist on the day. Ava was as tricky as always, hunting down the ball, but bringing quality to our attack. She finished powerfully when the ball broke a great run from Matilda, smashing the ball into the far corner to double our lead. 🏆 Parents Player of the Match went to Sophie. Sophie was a rock at the back and brings calm to the team. You can always trust her to make the tackle and to be in the right position. She also made a few runs forward with the ball when the space opened up. A top performance. 🏆 Coach’s Girl of the Game went to Matilda. Matilda started on the wing before having a stint up front and then even did a shift in defence. Wherever you play this girl, she always gives 100% for the team. Her work rate off the ball really stood out. She plays with passion and aggression and also has a fearful strike. She got a great assist in what was a fantastic performance 👏🏽 ... See MoreSee Less
